7 p.m (UPDATE) WAINIHA-HAENA – Boil Water Notice cancelled for Wainiha-Haena

Boil Water Notice cancelled for Wainiha-Hāʻena
LĪHUʻE – The Department of Water (DOW) has cancelled the precautionary Boil Water Notice for the Wainiha-Hāʻena Water System, effective immediately.
Laboratory results on the samples collected on September 10, 2026, indicate the water is safe for consumption. No further customer action is required at this time and customers in the Wainiha-Hāʻena area may now resume normal water use.
The Boil Water Notice was issued as a precautionary measure following the aftermath of Hurricane Lowell.

5 p.m. (UPDATE) Greater KILAUEA – Water service has been restored for Halaulani Road. A generator-powered booster pump is now operational, and water is moving through the system to the tap.

4 p.m. (UPDATE) – DOW water systems currently operating on 22 powered generators island wide.

12 p.m. – 3 p.m. (UPDATE):
• 2:30 p.m. KILAUEA – Booster pump is now operational on generator power for the Kahiliholo Road area and water is now moving through the system to the tap.
• 3 p.m. KILAUEA – DOW is mobilizing a generator for Halaulani Road.
• REMINDER: Kilauea Water System – Boil Water Notice (BWN) remains in effect until further notice.
• REMINDER: Wainiha-Hanea – Boil Water Notice remains in effect until further notice.
• REMINDER: Island-wide Water Conservation Notice remains in effect until further notice.

• 12 p.m. (UPDATE) Greater KILAUEA (Wailapa Road and Kapuna Road area) – Generator powered booster pump is now operational, and water is now moving through the system. DOW Electricians are working on Kahiliholo Road and Halaulani Road areas.
• 11 a.m. KAPAA – Leak being assessed in the vicinity of Hekili Road and Ohu Road.

• 9 a.m. (UPDATE) KILAUEA – DOW crews dispatched to top off water buffalos staged at Kilauea Neighbor Center.
• 8 a.m. (UPDATE) KILAUEA – Mobilized generators to aid booster for greater Kilauea in the Kapuna Road and Kahiliholo Road areas.
