4 PM, June 17, UPDATE: Changes to the areas for the water service shutdown in Hanalei on June 18
HANALEI – The Department of Water (DOW) announces a change to the water service shutdown areas scheduled for June 18, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Hanalei. The water service shutdown will now affect a much smaller area of customers. The areas affected will include Kūhiō Highway, from the portion west of Hanalei Elementary School to the intersection of Kūhiō Highway with Mālolo Road; and Mahimahi Road.
The water service shutdown will no longer include the previously mentioned roads of Weke Road and the portion of Kūhiō Highway that runs west of Hanalei Elementary School to Waikoko, in the vicinity of the hairpin turn. Additionally, ʻAmaʻama Road, ʻAnae Road, Heʻe Road and Kumu Road will not be affected.
Customers located in areas from the intersection of Kūhiō Highway with ʻAnae Road up to Waikoko, may experience intermittent low water pressure throughout the day.
Water buffaloes will no longer be provided.
