Night work scheduled for Kūhiō Highway (Hardy-Oxford) Waterline Project beginning Jan. 4
LĪHU‘E – The Department of Water (DOW) announces that night work will begin on January 4, 2026, and continue through September 15, 2026, on a portion of Kūhiō Highway, between Oxford Street and Hardy Street. The work will take place in the center two lanes on Kuhio Highway (no left-hand turns will be allowed into side streets or businesses). One northbound lane and one southbound lane will remain open. Lane closures will occur only during the times listed.
This work is for the Kūhiō Highway (Hardy-Oxford) Waterline Project which involves replacement of aged infrastructure, including new watermains, new fire hydrants, new service laterals, and service connections to adjacent properties.
Duration: January 4, 2026 – September 15, 2026
• January 4 – January 5, 2026 (12 a.m. to 5 a.m.)
• January 5 – January 9, 2026 (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.)
• January 11 – September 15, 2026 (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.)
Location: Kūhiō Highway between Poinciana Street and Hardy Street (Jan. 4 to Jan. 31).
Please be advised that during the project’s working hours, water service interruptions may occur. Additionally, typical construction site occurrences such as noise, vibration, and dust can also be expected. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and follow posted traffic signs for safety.
