March 17, UPDATE: Night work on Kūhiō Highway for (Hardy-Oxford) Waterline Project
LĪHUʻE – The Department of Water (DOW) and its contractor Alpha Inc. announce that work on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56), from Hardy Street to Kali Road, will continue as scheduled with lane closures in the northbound and southbound direction for night work.
The night work will continue from March 17 to September 15, 2026, weekdays from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting, for the Kūhiō Highway (Hardy-Oxford) Waterline Project. This project involves upgrading the aging water main infrastructure to meet current Water System Standards, including fire flow requirements.
Kūhiō Highway (Hardy-Oxford) Night Work Schedule:
-Sunday 9 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.
-Monday 9 p.m. to Tuesday 5 a.m.
-Tuesday 9 p.m. to Wednesday 5 a.m.
-Wednesday 9 p.m. to Thursday 5 a.m.
-Thursday 9 p.m. to Friday 5 a.m.
Noise, vibration, dust, and other occurrences typical of a construction site are expected during this project, as well as occasional water service shutdowns.
Residents, pedestrians, and motorists are advised to follow the directions of flaggers and obey posted signs.
