Intersection closure on Kūhiō Highway with ʻAnae Road in Hanalei scheduled  for June 19 

HANALEI – The Department of Water (DOW) announces that the intersection of Kūhiō Highway with ʻAnae Road will be closed to thru traffic from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday June 19, 2025, weather permitting.    

Motorists are advised to use Weke Road for entry and exit to ʻAnae Road. Kūhiō Highway will remain open during work hours but will be restricted to one lane, alternating traffic.    

The intersection closure is necessary for the installation of a new water line for the Hanalei Water Line Improvements Project.  This project will upgrade the water main infrastructure to meet current water system standards, including existing fire flow requirements.   

Please make the appropriate arrangements to accommodate the necessary intersection closure, and allow extra time to get to your destination.  Exercise caution and drive slowly when commuting in the vicinity of the work area. Follow the directions of flaggers and adhere to posted signs.
