April 3, UPDATE: Night work on Kūhiō Highway for (Hardy-Oxford) Waterline Project

LĪHUʻE – The Department of Water (DOW) and its contractor Alpha Inc., advise motorists that night work along Kūhiō Highway (Route 56), from Hardy Street to Kali Road, will continue through all of April with alternating one-lane closures in the northbound and southbound direction. The night work will take place on weekdays from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting.   

Kūhiō Highway (Hardy-Oxford) Night Work Schedule for April 2026:  
Sunday 9 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.  
Monday 9 p.m. to Tuesday 5 a.m.  
Tuesday 9 p.m. to Wednesday 5 a.m.  
Wednesday 9 p.m. to Thursday 5 a.m.  
Thursday 9 p.m. to Friday 5 a.m.  

The work is being done for the Kūhiō Highway (Hardy-Oxford) Waterline Project.  This project involves upgrading the aging water main infrastructure to meet current Water System Standards, including fire flow requirements.  

Noise, vibration, dust, and other occurrences typical of a construction site are expected during this project, as well as occasional water service shutdowns.   

Residents, pedestrians, and motorists are advised to follow the directions of flaggers and obey posted signs.
