Water service shutdown and lane closure scheduled for portions of Wailua Homesteads on Jan. 15

January 9, 2026

KAPAʻA – The Department of Water (DOW) announces a scheduled water service shutdown on a portion of Opaekaa Road, a portion of Puupilo Road, Puupilo Place, Pulama Road, Makana Road, a portion of Poo Road, and all branching roads on Thursday, January 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting.  DOW crews will perform repairs to a section of the mainline.

During the shutdown, water service will be temporarily unavailable or may have very low pressure for affected customers.  A water buffalo providing potable (drinking) water will be located near 6391 Puupilo Road.  Customers must bring their own water containers.

Customers located in the affected area are advised to prepare for the shutdown by taking the following steps:

  • Store enough water to meet your needs until water service can be restored.
  • Notify family, friends, tenants, and neighbors.
  • Ensure water heaters do not empty during the shutdown.
  • Avoid using appliances that require water during the shutdown.

Traffic Advisory

A partial lane closure will be in effect near the intersection of Olohena Road and Puupilo Road.  Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control. Motorists are advised to use caution and obey all posted signs, traffic controls, and flaggers.

Updates for the water service shutdown will be posted at www.kauaiwater.org.  For more information, please call the Department of Water at 808-245-5455 or email publicrelations@kauaiwater.org.
