Kawaihau Road utility work and one-lane closures extended through Feb. 28
KAPAʻA – Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company Inc., under contract with the Department of Water, has extended the utility work and excavation along Kawaihau Road, from the intersection of Kaapuni Road to Kapahi Road, through February 28, 2026, weather permitting. One-lane closures will occur on portions of the road from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weekdays only. Parking will not be allowed in the designated work zones.
The Kapaʻa Homesteads Tank Project will construct two 0.5-million-gallon storage tanks, along with necessary storm drain improvements. Additionally, approximately 1,700 linear feet of water lines (16-inch and 12-inch) and associated appurtenances will be constructed.

- Location: Kawaihau Road, from Kaapuni Road to Kapahi Road
Traffic Advisory
- One-lane closures will be in effect on weekdays only; access to properties will be provided.
- Please obey all posted signs, traffic controls, and flaggers.
- Use caution when driving over roadway steel plates.
- Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to allow extra travel time.
- Parking will not be allowed in the designated work zones.
